Wilson Ng

Described by Tatler Asia as “one of the world’s most acclaimed young conductors,” Wilson Ng was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Hankyung Arte Philharmonic in 2023. In addition to performances in Seoul, he led the orchestra’s début concert at the Hong Kong Arts Festival, where they also performed alongside La Scala Ballet.

Born in Hong Kong and educated in Europe since adolescence, Wilson later became a prize winner at Mahler Competition in Bamberg, Sir Georg Solti competition in Frankfurt and Svetlanov competition in Paris. Named Associate Conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic in 2018, he was at 28 the youngest conductor ever appointed by the orchestra. He is also a frequent guest of the other major Korean ensembles including the KBS Symphony and Korean National Symphony orchestras.

In addition to his appointment as a Conducting Fellow with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Wilson was recently awarded the Edo de Waart Conductorship with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. He will perform with these orchestras in prestigious venues such as the Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Concertgebouw.

Other recent highlights include performances with Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Qatar Philharmonic, Beijing NCPA Orchestra, Sapporo Symphony, Tongyeong Festival Orchestra and Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, with whom he recorded alongside mandolinist Julien Martineau under the French label Naïve. Other esteemed artists he has collaborated with include Viktoria Mullova, Sumi Jo, Víkingur Ólafsson, Bruce Liu, Esther Yoo and Yunchan Lim.

Back home, Wilson is a frequent guest conductor with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, leading subscription concerts and the city’s largest outdoor musical event, Symphony Under the Stars. He has also stepped in for Jaap van Zweden on multiple occasions, all to great acclaim.
